Hunter’s Lodge 10 Recap

Hey Hunters!!! I hope you watched and enjoyed Sunday’s Hunter’s Lodge 10. There was not a huge amount of new information presented but one major change was explained that stirred up the community. And be sure to check below for a special bean from Illusionweaver!!!

Partnerships

We were presented with confirmation of some more partnerships that will be available at day 1 of Cubieverse. Sadly, no pizza chain so far for Canada. I am hoping for Boston Pizza. The team keeps working on adding more partners, especially for El Salvador, Malaysia and Philippines. I must say that I am truly impressed with the Art Department’s work.

The most interesting addition here is for US players where Target structures will be an advanced print shop for a cost of 1GK per use. For Pizza shops that are mostly take out, they will consider adjusting the length of the Pizza quest. There will be a cap of the amount of structure per type that you can own. No further details were provided.

New Leaderboards

The team announced changes to the Leaderboard system. They will start fresh but CHW players will keep the builder points they have already accumulated. They intend to create a sort of Hall of Fame to remember the previous leaders. 3 new leaderboards are being implemented: Hunter, Builder and Explorer.

Each Leaderboard encourages a specific type of activity that will give its own set of rewards. It is still currently being discussed whether it is going to be Top, Top 3 or Top 5 that will be rewarded. It is not yet clear what happens with the Trivia, Cubie Collector and Referrals leaderboards. Players that have completed the Hawaii Volcano Quest and the Las Vegas Quest will have their points transferred to Cubieverse. They are also considering to reset personal first prints and give experience points instead of hunting leaderboard points thus giving a boost of XP to the Cubie you are currently wearing (more on leveling below).

Changes to Yellow Vaults

Now here comes the controversial stuff that has many players up in arms. The team felt that the current YV situation put major city CHW players at an undue advantage in relation to builder leaderboards. They seem to want to give a chance to the new Cubieverse players to enjoy building up YV by filling a cubiecrane and to get rewarded a common builder class BP. So YV will be reverted back to cubiecranes and it will cost 10 millions resin to rebuild for a max of 1million resin per player (10 pucks of 100000 resin). Additionally, the YV will now have a 1 month respawn timer. It is unclear if the reset is a hard 30 days or a 1st monday of month noon UTC reset.

Helping filling the cubiecrane will give you builder points and new common builder cubie (1 time only). Solving the YV for the first time will give you a large amount of explorer points and double the hunter points. The previous rewards remains but may be improved later on. There is a possibility that the first YV questions may become random. They will also look at adding more YV in the future.

CHW players on Discord where not that much upset with the reversion to cubiecrane. The 1 month timer did cause more uproar because it is a nerf compared to CHW. It means that we will have less opportunity to use yellow keys and it means less reward. Also it will make getting the RNG much more difficult. I believe the 1 month timer may eventually be revised after a while like they did when GV were switched to a 2 day time and YV to a 2 week timer just before the introduction of the infamous 3/3/3. I am beginning to think that getting YK and RK will be more difficult in the Cubieverse because GK will be quickly used up in structures and that we wont be getting these keys via the Auction House anymore. It may turn out that most players will not be able to do the YV more than once a month. I’ll have to analyse in detail the new key mechanics.

Oh, here is a special bean by Illusionweaver. Here is the Tony Construction BP and the Tony Construction Cubie that will be given out for filling a cubiecrane. After HL10, IW had mistakenly said it was Bob in Discord. I am sure “Bob the Builder” is copyrighted anyway.

Levelling Cubies

We have been hearing about levelling your cubies for months, at least a year. Finally HL10 has given us a very small glimpse of how it will work. It is quite simple actually. To level up your cubie, you will have to hunt with it, solve vaults, complete quests and so on. On top of that, our accounts will also have a level. What that means? I don’t know.

Having higher level cubies will increase Cubiecoins rewards in vaults and resources rewards for structures. Example: Having a Wombat level 10 staffing a Blue User vault will give more than a Wombat level 1. There will be a change in your inventory. When you tap on a cubie you have multiple copies, a sub inventory will pop up with all your snowman cubie & their respective levels, etc. Leveling a construction cubie will have it build structures faster as well.

Buddy Quest Changes

Another change that caused a stir is related to the YV issue. Buddy Quests will now reward 5 Green Keys instead of a Yellow Key. While a let down, combined with YV changes, this change makes sense as the we will need a smaller number of YKs. Finally, Cubieverse will see a full reset of your friends list allowing you to have another BQ with your family and friends. Buddy quest will start to be available at account level 5.

Green User Vault Update

We will be able to nudge the location of a Green User Vault that may not be at an optimal location. Players that want to do so will need to submit a trouble ticket explaining why the location would be better. Also, our GUV will eventually need to be staffed by a Cubie.

Transition to Cubieverse

The team announced that they intend to launch Cubieverse Open Beta on September 20th!! It is going to be fully open to all current countries and will be a persistent world. The rest of the world will have some limited features until they reach more than 100 daily/players.

Wave 2 of limited Beta Testing with about 50 players is under way, tweaking the building mechanics. Apparently it is going very well. Wave 3 of testing should start in 2 weeks with significantly more testers, so check your emails.

Q&A and Discord tidbits

I have included in the text above most of the details discussed in the Q&A and on Discord. Here are the tidbits that don’t fit above:

  • The September Adventure Road will be adjusted for the Cubieverse transition by giving the points for free.
  • Quest Chains Key requirement will be adjusted to the Cubieverse key economy.
  • They are thinking of allowing to change in game names for a fee.
  • There will be changes to the Auction House. No details except IW was cryptic in saying a Buy It Now option for HQ level 6!?!?
  • Certain features of CHW will be shutdown as we get closer to Cubieverse, such as the Auction House.

Hunter’s Lodge 11 will be held on September 3rd 11AM PDT or 2PM EDT. HL11 will cover how the transition to Cubieverse will work.

Well that is all for now. Hopefully I will have other beans to share in the next few weeks. I know not much is going on but let’s keep threading, Cubieverse is getting closer.

Happy Hunting!
